I have been listening to this song quite a bit in recent times. It’s epic in arrangement. It has a electro goth feel slightly a late 90s downtempo throwback. Midway through the song it breaks into a beautiful jazzy moment where horns, piano, and woodwinds meld together creating a dreamy break from the harder beat of the first half. As the accordion comes back in with the vocals we are swept into another verse yet the complexity builds into a very layered sound that takes us to the end of the track which ends on a somber note. Epic indeed.
Emanuel and the Fear is an eleven piece orch-rock band from NYC. I sense big things this year for them.
