Toro Y Moi just gets it. I mean his music seems so effortless and cohesive. Nothing seems at all forced. His new album Causers of This just dropped last week and is already a strong front runner for a slot in my top 10 of 2010.
Dreamy synths, airy, glitchy, melodic vocals, and non-annoying repetitive loops that end just when you feel they should.
Toro Y Moi is also working on a side project under the name Lessins that seems to draw inspiration from Daft Punk, and French 80’s electric synth-pop. I’m not sure when we can expect anything from this venture but when ever we do it will be something special.
He has a great way of filtering things that we’ve heard before into sequences that are new to the ear.
